On conferring state awards of Ukraine

This Decree of the President of Ukraine is an act of individual application, providing for the awarding of state decorations to military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The document is issued for personal courage shown in the defense of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as for selfless performance of military duty. The Decree records a personal list of individuals nominated for decorations with orders and medals.

The structure of the document consists of a preamble, which defines the grounds for awarding, and an operative part, which contains the nominal list of the awardees, specifying their military ranks and the types of state decorations. In comparison with previous acts of this type, this document does not amend the general legislation on awards, but serves as an exercise of the President’s authority regarding the recognition of citizens of Ukraine.

The most important provisions of this act are:
    1. Determination of specific types of state decorations: Orders “For Courage” (II and III classes), Order of Princess Olga III class, Order of Danylo Halytskyi, medals “For Military Service to Ukraine” and “For Irreproachable Service” III class.
    2. Legal fixation of the status of the awarded persons as having performed their military duty at a high level, which constitutes grounds for receiving the corresponding benefits and social guarantees provided for by the Law of Ukraine “On State Decorations of Ukraine”.
    3. Entry into force of the act from the moment of its signing, which serves as grounds for the issuance of relevant orders in military units and the entry of records into the personnel files of military personnel.
