This Law introduces amendments to the pension legislation of Ukraine, in particular, regarding the assignment and payment of pensions to persons who have committed crimes against national and public security, peace and international law and order. It aims to strengthen responsibility for such crimes, including through restrictions on pension provision.
The Law introduces amendments to the Laws of Ukraine “On Pension Provision”, “On Mandatory State Pension Insurance” and “On Pension Provision for Persons Dismissed from Military Service, and Certain Other Persons”. It stipulates that persons who have committed crimes against the foundations of national security, public security, peace, security of mankind, and international law and order shall be granted a pension on general grounds, but its amount may be reduced or its payment terminated by a court decision.
The most important provision is that the court has the right to reduce the amount of pension or terminate its payment to persons who have committed these crimes. This decision shall be made taking into account the gravity of the crime, the consequences it caused, and other circumstances of the case.
