1. **Essence of the law:** This law amends the Law of Ukraine “On Social and Legal Protection of Servicemen and Members of Their Families,” clarifying the issue of one-time financial assistance payments. In particular, it concerns cases of servicemen sustaining injuries, disability determination, and the amount of assistance in case of death (demise).
2. **Structure and main provisions:**
* The law consists of two sections: “Amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Social and Legal Protection of Servicemen and Members of Their Families”” and “Final Provisions.”
* Amendments are made to Article 16 regarding the payment of assistance in case of partial loss of work capacity as a result of injury or illness sustained during the performance of military service duties.
* Article 16-2 clarifies that the payment of assistance in connection with disability is made in the year the disability is established.
* The amount of one-time financial assistance in the event of the death (demise) of a serviceman during the performance of military service duties has been increased to 15 million hryvnias.
* “Final Provisions” define the terms of entry into force of the law and its individual provisions, and also oblige the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to bring its regulatory legal acts into compliance with this Law.
