This law amends Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which concerns violations of the laws and customs of war. The law expands the list of crimes that entail criminal liability, including actions related to children during armed conflicts.
Structurally, the law consists of two clauses: the first clause amends Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and the second specifies the date on which the law comes into force. The amendments consist of supplementing the list of crimes that entail liability with actions such as unlawful transfer or deportation of a child, unjustified delay in the repatriation of a child, recruitment or use of a child to participate in an armed conflict.
The most important provision of this law is the expansion of the list of crimes against children during war, which allows holding accountable individuals who commit such actions.
