On Approval of Amendments to the List of Positions of Military Personnel of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Subject to Replacement by Officer Staff and Corresponding Highest Military Ranks for These Positions

Order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs amends the List of Positions of State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Military Personnel to be Filled by Officers and Establishes Corresponding Highest Military Ranks for These Positions.

Structurally, the order replaces the section “Educational Institutions and Research Establishments” with two new sections: “Higher Military Educational Institution” and “Educational Units (Centers)”. Each section defines a list of positions and their corresponding highest military ranks.

Key provisions of the order:

  • For leadership positions in the higher military educational institution (rector, vice-rectors, institute directors), the highest rank is set at ‘colonel’
  • For heads of departments, chairs, and their deputies, the rank is set at ‘colonel’ or ‘lieutenant colonel’
  • For educational center directors, the rank is set at ‘colonel’ (or ‘captain of the 1st rank’ for maritime guard)
  • For teaching staff and other positions, ranks range from ‘captain’ to ‘colonel’ depending on the position level
