The law expands the circle of persons entitled to pension provision under special legislation, including individuals who became disabled as a result of self-defense during martial law, and family members of fallen Ukrainian defenders. Structurally, the law amends three main laws: ‘On Pension Provision for Persons Discharged from Military Service’, ‘On the Status of War Veterans’, and ‘On Compulsory State Pension Insurance’. The key innovation is the inclusion of persons who became disabled as a result of self-defense during the period of martial law in the group of special pension recipients. Key provisions:
– For persons who became disabled during the period from 24.02 to 25.03.2022, the law enters into force three months after publication;
– For other persons, the relevant provisions will take effect from January 1, 2026;
– The Cabinet of Ministers must determine the procedure for granting and revoking the status of a person with disability due to war for new categories of persons.
