The order introduces amendments to regulatory legal acts governing the activities of penitentiary institutions and pre-trial detention centers of the State Criminal Enforcement Service of Ukraine. Structurally, the order amends 4 main documents:
– Instructions on organizing correspondence review for individuals in penitentiary institutions;
– Procedure for conducting official investigations in the State Criminal Enforcement Service;
– Internal regulations of penitentiary institutions;
– Internal regulations of pre-trial detention centers.
Key changes relate to:
– Expanding the use of technical surveillance and control means in pre-trial detention centers;
– Simplifying the procedure for convicted persons to obtain copies of documents from their personal files;
– Increasing the retention period of prisoners’ personal files from 3 to 5 years;
– Updating references to updated legislation (in particular, regarding the public health system and media).
