Order Amending the Regulations on Special Purpose Police Units “KORD”, Expanding Their Powers during Martial Law and after Its Termination

The order introduces amendments to the Regulations on Special Purpose Police Units “KORD”, expanding their powers during martial law and after its termination. Structurally, changes are made to 5 sections of the Regulations and concern the legal framework of activities, tasks, rights of units, and powers of their leaders. New terms have been added and the list of normative acts governing KORD has been expanded. Key innovations include:

• Granting KORD the right to participate in the defense of Ukraine by directly conducting combat operations, subject to coordination with police leadership

• Expanding opportunities for interaction with other law enforcement agencies in combating enemy reconnaissance and sabotage forces

• Adding powers related to the use of unmanned aerial vehicles and countering their illegal use

• Granting the right to use weapons and combat equipment in the manner established for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during martial law and for 60 days after its termination
