1. Design Protection System Updates

  • Applications must now be filed directly with EU IP Office
  • Up to 50 designs allowed in single multiple application
  • Only digital representations accepted, no physical specimens
  • Product descriptions limited to 100 words
  • Mandatory Locarno classification
  • “Community design” replaced with “EU design”

2. Fisheries Closures

  • Belgian vessels banned from plaice fishing in areas 7h, 7j and 7k from December 19, 2024
  • Spanish vessels prohibited from undulate ray fishing in zone 9 from December 19, 2024
  • Both closures require recording of unintended catches

3. Anti-dumping Measures

  • Duties on Chinese pneumatic tyres ranging from 0 to 35.74 EUR per tyre
  • Countervailing duties on Chinese tyres from 3.75 to 57.28 euros per item
  • Duties on Chinese erythritol ranging from 34.4% to 233.3%

4. Cybersecurity Framework

  • Establishment of European Cybersecurity Alert System
  • Creation of EU Cybersecurity Reserve
  • New certification framework for managed security services
  • Network of cyberhubs for threat detection

5. Geographical Indications

  • New unified framework across wine, spirits and agricultural products
  • Updated procedures for registration and protection
  • Harmonized rules for amendments and cancellations
