On Amendments to the Regulation on Military Service of Ukrainian Citizens in the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Decree Amending the Regulations on Military Service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine Regarding the Procedure for Awarding Initial Officer Ranks During Martial Law

The document expands opportunities for awarding officer ranks to servicemen of private and sergeant ranks. Structurally, the decree contains two main points of changes: the first concerns the powers of corps commanders to award officer ranks, and the second expands the list of grounds for awarding initial officer ranks. Key innovations:

– Corps commanders and officials of equivalent status are granted the right to award initial officer ranks to servicemen of private and sergeant ranks appointed to officer positions during martial law;

– A mechanism is introduced to award officer ranks to mobilized servicemen and called-up reservists who have a master’s degree and at least 2 years of managerial experience when appointed to officer positions.
