The Commission Regulation (EU) 2024/2608 of 7 October 2024 amends Annex II to Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008 regarding the use of certain food additives in unripened soft spreadable cheese products.
Amendments to Annex II
In Part E of Annex II, food category 01.7.6 “Cheese products (excluding products falling in category 16)” has been updated as follows:
1. Powdered Cellulose (E 460(ii))
The entry for powdered cellulose (E 460(ii)) is replaced. The new provisions are:
- Additive: E 460(ii) Powdered cellulose
- Maximum level: Quantum satis (used according to good manufacturing practice, no maximum level specified)
- Permitted uses:
- Grated and sliced ripened and unripened products
- Unripened soft spreadable cheese products
2. Glucono-Delta-Lactone (E 575)
The entry for glucono-delta-lactone (E 575) is replaced. The new provisions are:
- Additive: E 575 Glucono-delta-lactone
- Maximum level: Quantum satis (used according to good manufacturing practice, no maximum level specified)
- Permitted uses:
- Ripened products
- Unripened soft spreadable cheese products
Entry into Force
This regulation enters into force on the twentieth day following its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
